The master plan of the Mina Rashid development in Dubai was developed with the ideology to attract and promote long-term dwellings for both people and businesses. The idea that the place that one lives in affects how one lives and becomes a part of one’s identity formed the crux of the design. The aim was to create a niche area where people would be proud to live and thrive, to further develop and modify the character of Port Rashid as the engine for future growth and wealth of Dubai.
Mina Rashid aims to be a place for the people and their loved ones, designed, built and maintained in order to contribute to the quality of life and to encourage healthy and sustainable lifestyles. A place which promotes economic success and allows people to share in its rising prosperity. A place that attract intellectual, cultural and financial investment. With an appreciation of the local climate, urban form, culture and topography, Mina Rashid is unique in its ability to foster local distinctiveness.
In keeping with this ideology, the masterplan design for the Mina Rashid development incorporated various functions such as a hotel, a residential district, a business district, a shopping mall, a multipurpose hall, a heritage village, a marina promenade and an adjoining cruise terminal, all connected by a system of urban spaces and public squares, and a linear park hosting a variety of sporting and leisure activities that together promote social cohesion.
